Spiral Binding / Coil BindingOpens 360 degrees: flat!
Spiral and coil binding refer to an identical book-binding process: the covers and pages of a book are joined using wire (spiral binding) or plastic coil (coil binding) which is twisted and inserted through holes punched in the cover and pages.
Because a spiral or coil bound book can be opened a full 360 degrees, a book will remain flat when opened, which can be very handy. Books that get consulted and used for reference such as atlases, instruction manuals, cookbooks and presentations are ideal candidates for spiral binding.
Both spiral and coil binding work with a broad range of sizes, small to extra-large. With respect to coil binding, the coils used with this process are available in a wide range of colors to accommodate many possible color-schemes.
Spiral and coil bound books are fast to produce, cost-effective and good for low-volume runs. Look around and you’ll see them everywhere!
If you have a book that needs to be USED – spiral or coil binding may be the way to go.
