In today’s digital age, presentation folders might seem to be a relic of the past. However, they remain a valuable tool to have on hand when doing sales or other presentations. Once the PowerPoint slides and videos have been shown and the presentation concluded, a folder containing documents that reinforce the multimedia presentation make for a great handout to give to prospective clientele.
What is a Presentation Folder?
Made with heavy card stock and most commonly sized at 9” x 12” folded (18” x 12” unfolded), presentation folders typically have pockets on at the bottom of both inner flaps that readily accommodate standard 8.5” x 11” printed documents, brochures, pamphlets — any kind or type of printed piece that can fit into a 9” x 12” space. While horizontal flaps along the bottom are the most popular choice, other configurations of the flaps are available. In addition, the flaps creating the pocket are often made with die-cut edges for added visual interest and/or die-cut slots are included in the pocket to hold one or two business cards.
Depending on your budget, presentation folders can be printed with one or two spot colors or with full CMYK process colors. Most presentation folders are printed on 1 side (while flat) with the inner pockets/flaps created after being printed. This allows for the cover design/imagery to be carried over to the pocket flaps. Foil-stamping and/or embossing are common enhancements. Gloss UV or aqueous coatings add additional sheen and protection. In some instances, the entire folder can be laminated for additional strength and durability. In essence, the only limitations to the kind of presentation folder that can be created are of the imagination and budgetary constraints.
