There are printed items we encounter practically every day of our lives ranging from postcards and flyers to catalogs and magazines. Today we’ll talk about another item we frequently encounter: table tents.
What is a Table Tent?
A table tent can be thought of as being a miniaturized version of the human-carried billboards that have been around for centuries. Instead of being carried around by a human being, a table tent billboard is designed to be placed (as its name implies) on a table top, booth, desk, bar, etc.
Table tents are folded into a triangular, tent shape and printed on the two vertical panels. A die-cut slot in the bottom panel is usually added for easy assembly, although the panels can also be joined with staples or tape. The two vertical panels can be printed with the same message or graphic on each panel or the panels can differ — there are no set rules! Intended to be noticeable and draw attention, table tents are almost always printed in full color.
Where are Table Tents Used?
Most often found in bars and restaurants, table tents are frequently used to promote new menu items, drink specials, or upcoming events. Table tents are also common in hotels, healthcare facilities, showrooms, point-of-sale or checkout areas, trade show booths — anywhere where a simple promotional message can be displayed.
Are There Standard Sizes?
Table tents can be custom printed in practically any size, but most table tents use common 4” x 6” or 5” x 5.5” formats. Heavy card stock is the most common substrate and a range of sheen finishes from matte to high gloss are available to add extra appeal. Besides the common rectangular format, table tents are also available with custom, die-cut shapes.
