While Google Maps and GPS have revolutionized travel via motorized vehicles, printed maps are still useful and ideal for areas where more information and detail can be provided beyond what Google Maps includes. In particular, college or university campuses, medical facilities, amusement parks, tourist attractions, crowded urban areas, etc., are more easily navigated when a printed map is available. Providing a printed map in a convenient tear-off pad is great way to help visitors navigate complex and confusing areas.
Are Tear-Off Pads the Same as Note Pads?
Yes, a tear-off pad is the same as a note pad. In both instances, the printed (or unprinted) sheet of paper is stacked — in quantities ranging from 25 to 200 sheets per pad— and a flexible adhesive is applied along one edge of the stack (most commonly the top edge). After the adhesive cures, individual sheets of paper can be easily torn-off for usage. Like notepads, map pads include a heavy cardboard sheet as a back to give the pad stability.
Are There Size Limitations?
While it’s possible to make any sized sheet of paper into a tear-off pad, it’s rare to find pads larger than tabloid sized (11” x 17”) used for map pads. Tabloid sized (and smaller) makes for a map that can be portable without requiring multiple folds.
