Saddle StitchStapled binding
Saddle Stitching is the go-to method of binding for low-page-count “books”. Prime Business Solutions offers this method for small manuals and catalogs, programs, booklets, brochures, graphic novels, magazines, newsletters, coloring books, etc.
With saddle stitch bookbinding the cover and pages are folded, then the book is stapled through the center crease. (The number of staples used depends on the item’s size and page-count.) Because saddle stitching is based on folded paper, page-counts will always be divisible by four (front and backs of each half of the folded paper.)
- Advantage: an image can cross the center and stretch the full-width of the two pages without losing the “center” as you would with classic glued or stitched binding.
- Disadvantage: sometimes you have empty pages or tight pages as the count must be plus or minus four pages no matter what!
Optional 3-hole punches can be added so the book can be included in a 3-ring binder along with other materials.
Standard sizes are 8.5” x 11”, 5.5” x 8.5” and 6“x 9”.
Saddle-Stitch binding is the affordable choice, especially for short runs. It’s also fast and creates relatively light-weight items which reduces postage costs.
