Restaurant menus come in a variety of shapes, sizes and formats. Many restaurants with extensive menus opt for a multiple page format utilizing saddle-stitch binding. In finer dining establishments, the saddle-stitched menu may be contained within a leather-bound cover. For others, sheets are folded and saddle-stitched sometimes with a laminated cover sheet or with all sheets laminated. A great alternative to these menu formats is a spiral-bound booklet with all the pages laminated.
Why Opt for a Spiral-Bound Booklet Menu?
Thicker Lamination – For folded laminated menus, the laminate thickness is typically kept to the minimum thickness so as to make the folding easier. Thinner laminates, while providing some protection, are not as durable as thicker laminates. With a spiral-bound booklet, a thicker more rigid laminate can be used to encapsulate (i.e., the laminate extends up to 1/2” beyond the edge of the page) the printed sheet. This extended, laminated area can then be drilled to accommodate the spiral coils while providing the utmost protection and durability.
Pages Open and Stay Flat – When a thicker laminate is used on a folded menu, even with a scored crease, the menu has a tendency to not lay flat making it difficult to read menus items. With a spiral-bound booklet, pages can be opened and the menu will remain flat making content more accessible.
Any Size and Page Count – Spiral-bound booklet menus can be designed in practically any height/width configuration with low or high page counts.
Longevity – Using a heavy encapsulated laminate make pages impervious to stains and spills, which means menus will last far longer than folded counterparts.
Matte, Satin or Gloss Finish – Laminates are available in these different finishes for visual enhancement of the menu. Also corners can be rounded for greater usability.
Ideal for Large Food & Drink Offerings – Rather than having separate menus listing food and drink options, a spiral-bound booklet menu allows for the inclusion of all items in one convenient format.
